How you work matters more than where you work.
Your space should reflect your values and what drives you. It should feel aligned with who you are and how you think. Whether it’s a single desk or an entire building, fill it with inspiration on purpose.
When we started in 2019, we had the opportunity to work out of an abandoned building. We still tried to make it feel like a home for creativity.
You do not need perfect conditions to create something meaningful. You need intention.
Here are the essentials we believe truly shape a creative space.
1. Sound
Be intentional about what you add and what you remove. Silence can focus you. Music can energize you. Noise can drain you.
Protect your attention. It is one of your most valuable assets.
2. Lighting
Natural light is gold.
If you cannot have that, make your space interesting. Layer your lighting. Lamps are your friend. Overhead lighting alone rarely inspires. Lighting affects mood more than we admit.
3. Scent
The most underrated design choice. It’s the first impression of a room and the one people remember subconsciously.
Bonus: air purifiers and natural plants are key 😉
Bonus: air purifiers and natural plants + flowers quietly elevate a space.
4. Art
We have seen far too many corporate spaces forget this. Art gives personality. It reminds you that ideas matter. Creativity matters. Expression matters. Blank walls rarely build bold thinking.
5. Plants
Whether they’re alive…or trying their best 🫠 they make a huge difference in softening digital spaces. Even one artificial plant can break up visual monotony.
6. Tools That Support Workflow
A beautiful space means nothing if it slows you down.
Organized storage, on and offline. Color accurate monitors. Mobile setups. Systems that allow you to move efficiently.
Reduce friction so creativity can flow.
7. People… Even Pets
We learned very early that synergy is crucial. As much as you can, work with people who share your values and ethics. And in spaces where you cannot choose your coworkers, stay rooted in something deeper.
The Foundation
Every space needs a framework for renewing your mind daily.
For us, that is reading the Word. It shapes our decisions. It influences how we lead and how we create. Without grounding, even the best designed space can lose direction.
You do not need the perfect space. You need an intentional one.
What is one thing you can shift in your workspace today?
